Bill Rice, Jr.: 06-09-2026,
LSU fans had their Game Faces on when “Game Day” came to town. Due to the Safety Officials, the game was delayed for at least two hours because of the threat of inclement weather.
Yesterday was the start of college football season, which is a big day on my calendar.
I woke up at 8 a.m. so I could catch “Game Day” on ESPN. The ultra-popular show was airing from the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. About an hour into the program, show host Reece Davis told the tens of thousands of people in attendance (and the millions of college football fans watching on TV), that there was “lightning in the area” and because of this, the show’s hosts would be moving inside. Reece told everyone to take precautions, leave wherever they were and maybe the show would resume outside once the threat of lighting was gone.
In Troy, Alabama, watching on TV, Bill Rice, Jr. was heard to exclaim, “Oh my God; not again.”
At least to myself, this “safety precaution” illustrates one significant change in America, a change that deserves a rebuttal column as it shows that anonymous “safety officials” still possess tremendous power, aren’t afraid to wield said power and that the masses will still obediently comply with (or at least not criticize) the dictates of the alleged experts.
Since my flat-screen TV works, I could actually observe the weather in Baton Rouge,
